Small bathroom refit
An old suite, tiles and plasterboard-free stud waste usually fit in a 3 yard skip.
Mini skips · 2 to 3 yards
Compact 2 and 3 yard skips that fit on most driveways, for small bathroom refits, garden tidies and one-room clear-outs.
A mini skip is the right choice when you have more waste than your bins or car can manage, but not enough to justify a full builders' skip. It takes up about the same space as a small car, so it usually fits on a driveway without blocking access to the house.
Mini skips are popular across Ipswich's terraced streets and new-build estates, where driveway space is tight. Their low sides also make them easy to load by hand, which helps if you are lifting tiles, bags of soil or old kitchen units on your own.
Because a mini skip is small, it is easy to overfill. As a rule, if the job is more than a single small room or a modest garden tidy, look at a midi or builders' skip instead. It often costs less than hiring a second mini skip.

| Size | Bin bags (approx.) | Footprint (approx.) | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 yard | 20 | 1.8m × 1.2m | Garden tidies, heavy waste |

| 4 yard (midi) | 40 | 2.6m × 1.5m | Kitchens, larger rooms |
Flat-pack old furniture, cut long timber into short lengths and fold cardboard. Air gaps are the main reason small skips fill up early.
Put rubble and soil at the bottom, then bulky light items on top. This spreads the weight and stops the skip tipping when it is lifted.
Waste must not stick out above the top edges. If it does, we have to remove some before we can take the skip away.
For very small jobs, a skip bag costs less and needs no space for a lorry to drop a skip. A mini skip is better when the waste is heavy or you need it collected on a specific day.

A 2 yard skip holds about 20 standard bin bags and a 3 yard skip about 30. Bulky items take more space than bags.
Yes. Mini skips are well suited to heavy waste because they stay within safe lifting weights even when full of rubble.
Most mini skips are under 2 metres long and fit on a single driveway. The lorry needs clear access to reach the spot.
Only if it goes on the road or pavement. On your own driveway, no permit is needed.

No. A mini skip is a steel container delivered and collected by lorry. A skip bag is a heavy-duty bag you fill and we collect with a crane lorry.
