Asbestos surveys · Ipswich
Sample testing for single materials, plus management and refurbishment and demolition surveys for landlords, businesses and building projects.
Before you renovate, demolish or simply drill into an older building, you need to know whether asbestos is present. A survey or test gives you that answer, so contractors can plan the work safely and you avoid costly delays if asbestos is discovered halfway through a job.
For homeowners, a single sample test is often all that is needed, for example to check a garage roof, an artex ceiling or old floor tiles. For businesses, landlords and larger projects, a full survey identifies where asbestos is, what type it is and what condition it is in.
Surveys are carried out following the Health and Safety Executive's guidance, and samples are analysed by an accredited laboratory. You receive a written report with photographs, locations and recommendations.

For occupied non-domestic buildings, identifying asbestos that could be disturbed in normal use and maintenance.
Required before major works. More intrusive, covering areas that will be disturbed.
Periodic checks of known asbestos to make sure it is still in good condition.
Testing of suspect materials before buying a property or building.
Arranged after licensed removal to confirm an area is safe to reoccupy.
Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, people responsible for non-domestic premises have a duty to manage asbestos. That usually means a management survey and an asbestos register.
The duty to manage applies to the common parts of flats and HMOs, such as hallways, stairwells and plant rooms. Landlords also have a general duty to keep tenants safe.
Before refurbishment or demolition of buildings built before 2000, a refurbishment and demolition survey should be carried out on the areas affected. Contractors will usually ask for one.
If you are renovating or removing an outbuilding, a sample test of suspect materials gives you peace of mind and tells your contractor what they are dealing with.
